Cards
Card purchases and installments, in the month you pay them
With a card you buy today and pay later, sometimes in twelve installments. Llegamos puts each purchase on the statement it belongs to, from your card’s closing and due days, and counts each statement in the month you pay it: so “do I make it this month?” gets the real answer.
01
The trouble with installments
Log a $ 36,000 fridge on the day you bought it and that month looks in the red while the next eleven look free. Leave it out and you forget you will pay $ 3,000 a month for a year. Both mislead you.
What matters is what leaves your pocket each month, and with a card the statement decides it: what you buy up to the closing day is paid when it is due, usually the next month.
02
How it works
Add your card
In Cards, in the main menu: its name, whose it is, the closing day and the due day. Anyone in the group can add one.
Log the purchase as an expense
Pick the card and how many installments. Before saving you see each installment and when the first and the last are due.
Each statement is a payment of its month
The statement shows up in Payments on its due day, adding the installments on it. Mark it paid like any other payment, also from a pocket, and get its reminder.
If the bank charges another figure, set it
Interest, fees or something you did not log: on the card you set the statement to what the bank says, and the difference stays apart.

An example
- Fridge, September 20, 12 installments
- $ 3,000 a month
- Supermarket, September 22
- $ 2,400
- Statement due October 10
- $ 5,400
- Statements from November to September
- $ 3,000 each
September takes none of this: both purchases are paid with what comes in in October, and the fridge is paid off next September.
04
Everything else counts it
- The month’s summary: “What’s left” and “In hand today” count the statement in the month it is due, not the purchase on the day you made it.
- Categories and [budgets](/en/features/category-budgets): each installment counts in its purchase’s category, in the month of its statement. What the bank adds has no category.
- What’s ahead: the coming months already show the statements with the installments left, so you see when something is paid off.
- [Shared expenses](/en/features/shared-expenses): the statement counts for whoever paid it, like any payment.
- [Several currencies](/en/features/multiple-currencies): a card with purchases in two currencies has a statement in each, never added up.
- The [WhatsApp assistant](/en/features/whatsapp-expense-tracker): “bought the fridge, 36,000 on the Visa in 12 installments” is logged all the same.
05
Earlier purchases
If you start using Llegamos with installments already running, log the purchase with its real date: installments due before you started using the app are not counted. If you do not remember the date, say how many you already paid and the rest start on the next statement.
Frequently asked questions
Does it cost anything?
No. Cards are part of the free plan, with no limit on cards or purchases.
Does it connect to my bank?
No. Llegamos does not read your account or your card: you log the purchases and, if you want, set the statement to the bank’s figure.
What if I change the closing or due day?
The statements still to pay move to the new dates. The ones you paid stay as they were.
What if I return something?
Delete the purchase and the statements you have not paid come down by themselves. If the bank gives the money back on another statement, set it to the bank’s figure.
